Leaders Trained by
KE Representatives in Kathmandu |

Chacko and Tej Rokka report that 150 leaders from across the nation of
Nepal attended the training conference in Kathmandu in April. They
taught on the topics related to a believer's Identity in Christ.
Tears were rolling down their cheeks as these young pastors and leaders
received
the truth of knowing what had happened to them in Christ deep into
their hearts.
James reported that "This group was some of the most
hungry people I have had the privilege to minister to in a long time.
Norene DeMonnin, our USA
friend, taught on the principles of Intercessory Prayer and Spiritual
Warfare,
while I focused on Leadership Lessons to take their ministry to the
next level
and to inspire leaders for intimacy with the Lord and walking in
integrity.
More than 80% of the SARA leaders present were below the age of 30 and
that
truly inspired our team.
They were so hungry to learn the Word. It was
evident from their worship that they were passionate about serving
Jesus
Christ. Thank you KER for the opportunity to impart and be a source of
blessing to the leaders in Nepal.
Pastor Tej did an outstanding job in putting together a great
conference in
spite of hurdles like local "bundh" (political strike) stopping
vehicles crossing from one region to the other."
Pastor Tej reported that the conference blessed and motivated the
pastors, elders, leaders and former students, and that God spoke very
clearly through Pastor James and Norene. Pastor Rokka said, "We prayed
over new leaders, did group study and feedback, and we
also did a prayer walk around the city. In one service, two people came
forward and openly accepted the Lord. We
also ministered to the children.
It was a profitable and meaningful time and many leaders have returned
with new
passion and motivation. Some of them requested that I go to their
villages and conduct local training for
local churches in their areas."

 The
end of 2008 also brought an end of storms that included the flooding of
the Deasy's home from Hurricane Ike, the sudden heaven-going of their
son, Mike Jr., and other spiritual battles.
Through it all, Pastor Mike and Kathie Deasy endeavor to keep in close
contact with their church members. Pastor Mike reports they are praying
that their leaders would be strong and healthy, and continue to
"rebuild and restore" the "Rock People" while they "...defeat the work
of the devil and establish God's covenant on this earth, using music as
their tool during praise, teaching, warfare, evangelism and prophecy."
Takin' It to the Streets at Port Arthur's Mardi Gras!
 We
set up our semi-truck trailer that opens up into a stage next to our
little concession trailer, playing our music and talking to the people,
passing out bookmarks with a picture and information about the "Rock."
Many heard about Jesus as they rushed into Mardi Gras.
 Other Ministries:
Pastors Albert and Beth Bakker are
ministry regulars at the jails and Pastor Mike at the Federal Prison
here in our community. Once released, many are coming to the "Rock."
Open
Mic night is the last Wednesday evening of each month.
This reaches out to the music community and is always entertaining as
we endeavor to gather up visitors as they sing and play their music.
The Kitchen Addition
is almost finished, which will also have room for our tables and our
Solid Rock Cafe, giving us more area in the sanctuary for people,
prayer and music.
Rock Church celebrated our 7th
Anniversary on March 22nd and Dr. Hammonds was such a
blessing and presence as he prayed for us and addressed the people.
This
summer will be a kick-off for some new Children's Ministry
and more early morning teaching series that the people love as several
people are beginning to operate in their teaching gifts.

| New Life Church on the Rock |
 Pastor Ken and Jeanie Woolf
report that New Life Church on the Rock has been busy building an
"Authentic Christian Community" that is reaching the lost, discipling
the believer and equipping the leader."
"Since erecting our church building in September of 2008, we have seen
many people receive Jesus as their Savior, had numerous baptisms, new
marriages begin and several restored. New families have joined which
brought increase to the nursery and children's ministries and many,
many new teenagers are now part of the Breakaway Youth Ministry. With
such growth, we have had to quickly become creative in making room in
our new building. We are now having two Sunday Worship Services at
9:00am and 11:00am with people being added each and every Sunday!
 As we move forward
with our growing church, New Life COTR has added a new full-time
Associate Pastor, Cheri Osberg. Cheri was ordained in April as a
minister for New Life COTR. She has been at our church for over five
years and has worked in different forms of church and youth ministry
for 20 years. We are enjoying her availability to focus on
expanding our youth ministry, church and our communication of the
Gospel.
New Life COTR has a passion for God and a passion for people and we
continually seek ways to expand our vision to not only build an
'Authentic Christian Community' in our local areas but also in all the
world!" |
