Johanis Ciandy, Indonesia
Johanis is a GTCOTR supported missionary. After graduating from Bible College, Johanis interned at GTCOTR in youth ministry before returning to his home country to begin his missions work and youth outreach. Johanis conducts youth evangelism and teaches youth and adults in churches. Together with another ministry, Johanis has opened an outreach community center for families in the city of Merauke.
Johanis manages 7 full time staff who work at the center. This summer, 110 youth attended his youth camp, 13 were born again and the rest recommitted themselves to the Lord. The center is very strategic to reaching the thousands of Muslim families who have moved to the area around Merauke. The missions group that helped Johanis establish the community center ranks the ministry as one of its TOP 5 outreaches out of the 100 countries they are active in!
The recent volcano, earthquake, tsunami and visit of the U.S. President (who spent some of his childhood in Indonesia) have brought world wide attention to Indonesia again. Merauke has not suffered as other parts of Indonesia have, but Johanis requests continued prayer for himself, his ministry, and the entire nation to be reached with the gospel.
